MiniMax H3.1
MiniMax H3.1 is the next MiniMax video model.
What is MiniMax H3.1?
MiniMax H3.1 is announced but not released: on MiniMax's half-year earnings call on August 26, 2026, CEO Yan Junjie said M3.1, M3 Pro and H3.1 were close to completion.
Sina Finance reported that H3.1 will bring a fairly large round of capability improvement over H3, the video model MiniMax launched on July 31, 2026, which third-party guides say the Hailuo app lists as Hailuo 3.0. MiniMax has given no date or specs, though M3.1 Flash, a text model from the same batch, shipped on October 19.

What MiniMax H3.1 could bring
A sizable capability jump over H3, according to Sina Finance's report of the earnings call; MiniMax has not said in which areas
H3's 2K output, 15-second clips, native stereo audio and text, image, video and audio references are the baseline a point release would likely build on
Open weights are possible, since MiniMax released open weights for H3 in early August 2026, but it has not said the same for H3.1
It may appear as Hailuo 3.1, since third-party guides say the Hailuo app lists H3 as Hailuo 3.0
Prompting tips until MiniMax H3.1 lands
- On MiniMax H3 Max today, name each reference and its job: 'Image 1 is the protagonist, keep her face and jacket the same.'
- Write the soundtrack into the prompt. Audio is always on, so anything you leave out is left to chance.
- Draft in text mode at 480p, then rerun the version you like in reference mode.
Where MiniMax H3.1 could fit
Short clips with native audio, if it keeps H3's sound generation
Reference-driven shots with consistent subjects, if it keeps H3's reference inputs
Quick social video drafts, if it follows H3

Good to know before you generate
- No release date or specs
- On the earnings call, MiniMax put text models at about four times the training compute of video, per 21st Century Business Herald, which could slow video releases
- As of October 23, 2026, H3.1 was not on MiniMax's news page or in its API docs

Create with MiniMax H3 Max todayQuestions about MiniMax H3.1
Has MiniMax announced H3.1?
Yes, by name. On the August 26, 2026 earnings call, CEO Yan Junjie said M3.1, M3 Pro and H3.1 were close to completion. MiniMax has not published a launch post, specs or a model ID for H3.1.
When will MiniMax H3.1 come out?
MiniMax has not given a date. M3.1 Flash, from the same batch the CEO described, shipped on October 19, 2026, so H3.1 could follow in the last months of 2026, but that is an inference. On the same call MiniMax said its release cycles will get significantly shorter.
How will H3.1 differ from H3?
MiniMax has published nothing on it. Sina Finance, reporting on the earnings call, wrote that H3.1 will bring a fairly large capability improvement over H3. H3 itself generates up to 15 seconds at 2K with native stereo audio and takes text, image, video and audio references, so H3.1 would likely start from there.
Is MiniMax H3 Max the same as H3.1?
No. MiniMax's docs say H3 Max was post-trained by fal.ai from H3, and H3 Max Turbo is reported to be fal's distilled version. MiniMax's own API lists only MiniMax-H3 and MiniMax-H3-Max.
Is there a Hailuo 4 or MiniMax H4?
No source mentions one. A point release like H3.1 is what MiniMax has actually named, and any Hailuo 4 page you find is speculation.
