Wan 2.6
Alibaba's Wan 2.6: 15-second videos with audio and multi-shot continuity, on Flashloop's free tier.
What is Wan 2.6?
Wan 2.6 is a video model from Alibaba's Wan family, announced in December 2025.
It generates short clips with synchronized audio and was built to keep a subject consistent across several shots. On Flashloop it renders up to 15 seconds at 720p in 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1, and it is one of the models you can use on the free tier.
Alibaba shipped it as a set of models covering text-to-video, image-to-video and reference-to-video, with the reference mode aimed at putting the same person into new scenes. It is closed and API-only. The open Wan releases under Apache 2.0 are the older Wan 2.1 and Wan 2.2, so if you have read that Wan is open source, that refers to those versions, not 2.6.
It is not Alibaba's newest model. Wan 2.7 followed in April 2026 and Wan 3.0 in August 2026, with clips up to 30 seconds and 1080p output. Wan 2.6 still makes sense as the free place to test an idea with sound before you spend credits, and for simple social clips where 720p is enough.

Good to know before you generate
- On Flashloop it renders at 720p only
- Photorealism trails paid models such as Veo 3.1 and Kling 3.0
- Audio is fine for ambience and simple dialogue but not a substitute for a dedicated voice model
- The free tier has daily generation limits
- It is an older model: Wan 3.0 is Alibaba's current generation

Questions about Wan 2.6
Is Wan 2.6 free to use on Flashloop?
Yes. It is available on Flashloop's free tier, with daily generation limits, so you can try it before paying for anything.
How long can Wan 2.6 videos be?
Up to 15 seconds, which is enough for short social clips, simple story beats and product concepts.
What resolution does Wan 2.6 support on Flashloop?
720p. Alibaba's own service also lists 1080p, but on Flashloop Wan 2.6 renders at 720p.
Does Wan 2.6 include audio?
Yes. Clips are generated with synchronized sound, so you can describe dialogue or ambience in the prompt instead of adding it later.
Is Wan 2.6 open source?
No. Alibaba released Wan 2.1 and Wan 2.2 as open models under Apache 2.0, but Wan 2.6 is only available through APIs and its weights and parameter count are not public.
Why choose Wan 2.6 over other models?
Mostly because it is free on Flashloop and good enough for everyday ideas with sound. For higher resolution, longer clips or more control, Wan 3.0 is Alibaba's newer model.
Who makes Wan 2.6?
Alibaba, through its Wan video team (also known as Tongyi Wanxiang). Flashloop gives you access to it; it is not a Flashloop model.
Should I use Wan 2.6 or Wan 3.0?
Use Wan 2.6 for free tests and simple 720p clips. Use Wan 3.0 when you need clips up to 30 seconds, 1080p output or richer reference inputs.
