Flux 2

Black Forest Labs' FLUX.2: speed or quality tiers, up to 8 references and up to 4MP images.

What is Flux 2?

Flux 2, written FLUX.2 by its maker, is Black Forest Labs' image generation and editing family, launched on November 25, 2025.

Black Forest Labs was founded by former Stability AI researchers who built the original Stable Diffusion. On Flashloop you pick one of four tiers, from sub-second Klein drafts to Max, with up to 8 reference images and output up to 4MP.

The tiers are the practical reason to use it. Klein renders in under a second, which makes it a sketchpad: you can try a dozen compositions, keep the one that works and rerun that exact prompt on Pro or Max for the finished image. Generation and editing live in the same model, and references let you carry a product's shape or a style across a set of images.

Flux 2 is at its best with stylized and illustrated looks, landscapes and product scenes. Short text labels usually work, but long copy often needs retries, so Seedream 5.0 Lite or Nano Banana Pro are safer for posters and packaging. Black Forest Labs also publishes open weights for the Dev and Klein tiers, which developers can fine-tune with LoRA outside Flashloop.

Where Flux 2 fits best

  • Fast composition sketches

Use Klein to try many layouts in seconds before committing credits to a high-quality render.

  • Stylized illustration

Characters, fantasy scenes and painterly looks, where Flux 2 tends to produce richer results than photo-focused models.

  • Product sets from references

Attach product and style references and generate a consistent series for a catalog or campaign.

  • Landscapes and environments

Wide scenes with dramatic skies and water at up to 4MP for backgrounds and key art.

Good to know before you generate

  • Short text works, but long or complex typography often needs retries
  • Klein trades quality for speed and is meant for drafts
  • For photorealistic portraits, Nano Banana Pro is often the stronger choice
  • LoRA fine-tuning applies to the open FLUX.2 [dev] weights you run yourself, not to Flashloop generations

Questions about Flux 2

What makes Flux 2 different from other image models?

Flexibility. You pick a tier for the job, from sub-second drafts on Klein to Max for the best output, and you can guide it with up to 8 reference images on Flashloop.

What are the Flux 2 tiers on Flashloop?

Klein, Dev, Pro and Max. Klein is the fastest, at under a second for rough drafts, and the others move up in quality. Black Forest Labs also offers a Flex tier through its own API.

How many reference images can I use with Flux 2?

Up to 8 on Flashloop, which helps keep a style, a product or a character consistent across generations. Black Forest Labs' own API accepts up to 10.

Does Flux 2 support LoRA training?

The open FLUX.2 [dev] weights can be fine-tuned with LoRA if you run the model yourself. That is separate from generating on Flashloop, where you use the hosted tiers.

How good is Flux 2 at rendering text?

Fine for short labels, less reliable for long copy. For text-heavy posters or packaging, Seedream 5.0 Lite or Nano Banana Pro are safer choices.

What resolution does Flux 2 support?

4MP at the top end, which covers 2048x2048 output for detailed social assets, product images and many web and print uses.

Who makes Flux 2?

Black Forest Labs, a German AI lab founded in 2024 by former Stability AI researchers. It followed FLUX.1 from August 2024. Flashloop gives you access to Flux 2 alongside other image models.
