Grok Imagine
xAI's Grok Imagine: fast video with native audio, several variations per prompt and clips up to 30 seconds.
What is Grok Imagine?
Grok Imagine is xAI's image and video model, first released in August 2025 and built on xAI's Aurora architecture.
Its video mode turns a prompt or a starting image into short clips with sound generated in the same pass. On Flashloop it renders at 480p or 720p in five aspect ratios, with lengths up to 30 seconds.
Speed is the point. Typical renders come back in about 17 seconds, and one prompt can return several variations, so you can see four takes on a hook in the time a slower model takes to finish one. Extend from Frame lets you pick the moment that works and continue the clip from there instead of starting over; xAI's own API generates up to 15 seconds per pass and uses that same extension to go longer.
The trade is resolution and detail. Output stops at 720p and each frame is less polished than what Veo 3.1 or Kling 3.0 produce, and continuity can drift after several extensions. Use Grok Imagine to find the idea, then take the winning prompt to a higher-fidelity model when the clip has to look finished.

Where Grok Imagine fits best
Testing hooks for short-form
Run several openings for the same video and keep the one that grabs attention in the first second.
Longer social clips
Build a clip up to 30 seconds by extending from the frames that work, with sound all the way through.
Animating a starting image
Give it a still and a short prompt and get motion and audio back in seconds.
Concept exploration before a final render
Try moods, camera styles and settings quickly, then move the chosen direction to Veo 3.1 or Kling 3.0.

Good to know before you generate
- Output stops at 720p
- Per-frame quality trails slower models such as Veo 3.1 and Kling 3.0
- xAI's own API generates up to 15 seconds per pass, so long clips are built by extending
- Continuity can drift after several chained extensions

Questions about Grok Imagine
How fast is Grok Imagine?
Typical generations take about 17 seconds, which makes it one of the quicker options for testing ideas and producing in volume.
Does Grok Imagine generate several versions at once?
Yes, it can return several variations from one prompt, so you can compare takes without resubmitting the same prompt.
How long can Grok Imagine videos be?
Up to 30 seconds on Flashloop. xAI's API generates up to 15 seconds per pass and continues clips from the last frame for longer sequences.
Does Grok Imagine support audio?
Yes. Sound effects, ambience and dialogue are generated in the same pass as the video.
What is Extend from Frame?
It continues a clip from a frame that already works, which helps when a take nails the look halfway through and you want to build on it.
Who makes Grok Imagine?
xAI, the company behind the Grok assistant. Grok Imagine runs on xAI's Aurora architecture, and Flashloop gives you access to it next to other video models.
Is Grok Imagine good enough for final videos?
For fast-moving social posts at 720p, often yes. For large screens or polished ads, use it to find the idea and render the final on a higher-resolution model.
